| Introducing
... Simmons Bible University |
Simmons
Bible University (SBU) was established
to assist in the equipping of believers to fulfill
their ministry. The word “ministry”
is not limited to just those who are ordained.
Having a solid command of the Bible and its key
doctrines is an essential element for anyone who
desires to fulfill this calling.
SBU
also offers the best value in a high quality distance-learning
degree program.
There are many other reasons to choose Simmons.
Visit Simmons on the Web at simbu.org for
more information.
Simmons
may be the place for you! |

| Jail Ministry |
 |
|
|
|
| In
2008, TTC began a partnership with the Good
News Jail and Prison Ministry in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, (Fairfax,
VA) and Prince George's County Correctional Center (Upper
Marlboro, MD).
John
Nolan serves as our lead for the PG County facility.
Cathy Smith serves as lead at the Fairfax County Jail.
We
are working closely with the Chaplain Offices at both
locations, to identify inmates' needs such as mentoring,
Bible studies, worship services, etc. We also desire
to minister to jail staff and to be involved in programs
and activities that reach out to inmates' children and
families. |

| Community
Initiatives in Washington, DC, and Maryland |
 |
You
don't have to look far to see that the Washington, DC,
Metropolitan area, is not immune to the current economic
situation that our nation faces. Right
in the midst of prospering communities, there are people
struggling to make ends meet. Like Jesus, we must meet
them where they are.
In
Washington, DC, we've had a longstanding relationship
with residents of an apartment complex at 14th &
R Streets, NW. Evangelist Betty Fluker has been faithfully
serving as our lead for this ministry. Our vision is
to plant another church in that community called Beth
Mikvah--House of Hope. To move towards our vision, we've
been conducting a weekly Bible study as well as other outreach events such as back-to-school
drives when we donate school supplies to children in
the community as well as food and a clothing banks.
A Children's Church is one major initiative we'll be
undertaking this year. |

| Penn Mar Apartments (Forestville, MD) is a community
where we've begun a food outreach. On Saturday, April 17, 2010, we begin conducting a Bible study in the Penn Mar Community Room. Michael
Black serves as our leader or liaison for this community. John Nolan will be conducting the Bible study to begin Saturday, Aprii 17, 2010.
An
important part of this work is building trusting relationships
with the management and residents. Currently we hold
montly food outreaches at these locations. Our goal
is to broaden our services to the residents by partnering
with local churches and organizations to work alongside
us. |
